I been patient,
I been bidin' for so long,
for a place,
for a face to call my own.
Are you listening?
'Cause I don't know who I am singin' for.
Not just myself,
and that's one thing that I know for sure.
Ain't no armor on these bones,
but there ain't no woman can see this soul,
and there ain't nobody to show me home,
it's what I've sown.
Illumination?
It's a wonder I can see at all.
Window's shut tight,
I'm banging my head up against the wall.
Ain't no armor on these bones,
but there ain't no woman can see this soul.
There ain't nobody to show me home,
it's what I've sown.

Comments
I'd suggest the following:
V2L2: 'I'm' instead of 'I am'
V2L4: remove the 'and' and 'that'
V4L4: remove 'up'
Other than that, it's got a nice moody rhythm - a real heartbreaker of a song!
